. Cleaning and Maintenance of Your Bathroom Exhaust Fan
Wiping down the outside of your fan unit when you do your normal bathroom cleaning will keep the casing looking good but sometimes deeper cleaning is necessary. Twice a year you should clean the entire unit thoroughly to prevent dust buildup in the motor and keep your bathroom exhaust fan operating efficiently. Before beginning your semi-annual cleaning, be sure to turn off the power at the breaker as you will be cleaning the inside of the fan unit.

Start by gently cleaning both sides of the fan blades to remove dirt and debris from the blades. Any mild household or glass cleaner will do this job nicely. Clean the vent cover with warm, soapy water. If the vents are clogged, you can vacuum off the dirt or try canned air for particularly stubborn spots before washing. Dry with a soft cloth or paper towel and reattach the vent to the exhaust fan housing. Proper maintenance will extend the life of your bathroom exhaust fan so that it can protect your home and family for many years.
