The quality of the air we breathe indoors
The quality of the air we breathe indoors has become an increasingly important environmental concern. Following are facts that have been determined by recognized authorities in the fields of health and air quality: FACT: Most people spend 60% to 90% of their time indoors. (Canedian LUNG ASSOCIATION) FACT: 50% of all illnesses are either caused by, or aggravated by, polluted indoor air. (Canadian COLLEGE OF ALLERGISTS) FACT: The levels of some hazardous pollutants in indoor air has been found to be up to 70 times greater than in outdoor air. (USEPA) FACT: Studies have shown that two out of three indoor air quality problems involve the HVAC System. FACT: More than 15 million Canadians suffer from allergies. FACT: One out of six people who suffer from allergies do so because of the direct relationship to fungi and bacteria in air duct systems. (TOTAL HEALTH AND BETTER HEALTH MAGAZINES) FACT: 12 million Canadians suffer from Asthma. (Canadien COLLEGE OF ALLERGIST) FACT: Children and the elderly are especially affected by indoor pollution. (DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS) FACT: Most commercially available fiberglass furnace filters are less than 7% efficient.
Hardly a week goes by without hearing or seeing something concerning Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) or Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). What was once thought to be imagined maladies are now known to be attributed to the air we breath indoors. 28% of all humans suffer from allergies, 1 in 6 of whom do so as a direct result of dirty duct systems. In fact, as many as half of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by indoor air pollution. According to the EPA, indoor air can be up to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. What causes IAQ problems? Almost 80% of IAQ problems are caused by either inadequate ventilation, a source of pollution or both. Inadequate ventilation is usually pretty straightforward to fix. A pollution source can be external to the building or within the building itself (including the ventilation system duct work). Building operations personnel have little or no control over external pollution sources and usually must resort to special filters or other solutions. Internal pollution is a little easier to deal with, especially a contaminated duct system. Building operations personnel have three choices when a contaminated duct system is discovered: Ignore the problem. Hire a Toronto duct cleaning contractor at considerable expense. Acquire the necessary equipment and training to perform duct cleaning in-house. Ignoring the problem is foolish given the litigious nature of the times in which we live. No educational or health care facility wants a lawsuit over a situation that could have been addressed and corrected. Another area for in-house ventilation system maintenance is educational facilities. Colleges, universities and school districts. Canadian's students are her future and every precaution should be taken to contribute to a healthy learning environment. In all cases, outdoor air quality has to be taken into consideration when planning ventilation system maintenance. Remember, the dirtier the air is outside, the faster the duct system can become contaminated and require cleaning. In addition to normal contaminants such as dust, lint, mold spores and fungi, health care facilities have the added problem of viral and bacterial contamination. Areas of particular concern are operating rooms, intensive care units, pediatric wards and geriatric wards. Elderly people often suffer with breathing problems and polluted indoor air only intensifies their problems. The same holds true for asthmatics. Children are particularly affected by indoor air pollution because they breathe more air than adults. The average adult breathes 16,000 quarts of air a day. Because children breathe faster, they breathe more air after taking body weight into account. Where is there a higher concentration of children than in our nation’s schools? In addition to health concerns, poor indoor air quality can contribute to fatigue or restlessness that can effect student productivity in class. Other Benefits of Clean Ducts Besides the obvious health benefits derived from cleaning HVAC systems, here are some other benefits: Increased Employee Productivity - healthier people make better workers and lose less time to sickness. Reduced Housekeeping Costs - the HVAC system is not pumping dirty air into the occupied space. Increased Airflow - because air moves unobstructed by debris build up, blowers and fans do not need to cycle as long or as often. Energy Savings - because motors and drives do not work as hard, less energy is consumed by the system. Some Other Areas to Consider Duct Cleaning In addition to ventilation system cleaning, here are some other areas to consider for regular inspections and cleaning: Dryer vents in laundry areas. Cleaning dryer vents reduces fire risk. Ventilation vents of all kinds. What other services do you do?
Cleaning out the lint filter from your dryer is not enough, since some lint escapes gradually building up in the dryer's vent causing blockage. Lint blockage can lead to a higher utility bill since the dryer needs to work harder and longer to dry the clothes. This blockage can be a serious problem, because lint is highly flammable it can cause a fire in your home and damage to your property.

The team of Duct Cleaning Toronto was well trained and very professional. With the new air fresheners they installed in my house smells fresh and I love it. I suffered from allergies all my life. We just bought a new house a month ago and my allergies became worse. A neighbor that had his duct cleaned by Duct Cleaning Toronto recommended I book an appointment with them to get our ducts cleaned too. When the duct technician showed me, I was appalled to see all the dust and garbage that was left in the ducts from the construction (dry wall dust, insulation and debris). Since they cleaned the ducts I can breathe easier.
Duct Cleaning Toronto, thank you so much for the excellent job!

We just rented an apartment but had a big problem with the terrible smell all over the place. The previous tenants have been smokers and no matter how much we tried we couldn’t get rid of the smell. We opened the windows, painted the walls, replaced the furniture and all but the smell was still there and it was unbearable. Then it dawn to me that a duct cleaning might help. I called Duct Cleaning Toronto. They performed an amazing service and since then we can enjoy indoor air quality.
Keep on the good work!

My daughter and I suffer from asthma and dry throat for a long time. My Doctor suggested that the air duct cleaning may relieve the symptoms. He referred me to Duct Cleaning Toronto as they’ve cleaned and sanitized the hospital he’s working at and he also had them clean the ducts in his house. They were very polite and professional, came in time and I could feel the difference as soon as they left. Since they cleaned our ducts, my daughter and I had neither asthma attacks nor dry throat.
Thanks a million Duct Cleaning Toronto!

After doing the basement renovation our nephew moved in to live there. After spending a few nights in our basement he kept on sneezing and coughing in the morning. He never had any allergies before and we all wondered what causes these outbreaks.
A friend suggested we get duct cleaning done. We called Duct Cleaning Toronto and since they’ve cleaned the ducts, our nephew stopped the sneezing and coughing and there’s significant improvement in his health. Now we all enjoy breathing fresh air and I’d recommend it to anyone who has had recently any construction work done.
Great job, Duct Cleaning Toronto, thank you!
