Furnace and Air Conditioner Filter Replacement
Duct cleaning and furnace cleaning both have a certain period wherein we’ll have it cleaned again. However filter replacement and cleaning must be done as often as possible. The air filters are very important in our own house as we would have it in our own car. The filters purpose is to sift the dust particles from entering the duct work. As needed, filters must be checked as regularly as possible especially during heat season and the cold season more so if we have an air conditioning system at home.
Should there be a need for filter replacement than just merely cleaning the filter, these are the things you need to know before doing so:
- First, identify the filter’s actual and nominal dimensions. For instance, the furnace filter has an actual measure of 15½” x 24¾” x ¾”, then you will find a filter based on the nominal dimensions of 16″ x 25″ x 1″; and
- Second, when you classify the size of the furnace filter, you would need to measure the dimension of the existing one and then find the nearest nominal match. Finding the nominal dimensions of the furnace filter is simply to round the actual dimensions of the filter to the nearest 1” on each side. Remember, the height and width of the filter is interchangeable. For example, 16″ x 25″ x 1″ is practically the same as 25″ x 16″ x 1″.
The reason why this is cited is because we want to make sure that the furnace and air conditioner filter fits securely into place otherwise it will cause the furnace filter to tear or crumple or bulge which will possibly reduce the effectiveness of the filter and will lose its purpose for being there. If in the event there is air leak after the putting the filter in place, it is advisable to use gasket tape and tape around the edges of the furnace filter to cover the spaces. Furnace and air conditioner filter replacement is one routine that will help enhance the quality of indoor air.
