Residential Duct cleaning

Cleaning your air ducts, will stop the dust from getting into your system, by preventing you from breathing it in. All though, they don’t need to be cleaned annually or be part of your up keep of the home. They do however, need to be clean every once in a while. There are reasons to why your home maybe unsafe, and the quality of air to be poor in your home, and why the members of the house hold are sick.

There are simple factors to why this is happening such as: cigarette smoke, if you have pets, cooking, not using the central air, inappropriate ventilation that is in your home, or leaving your windows open. Even though, these maybe the causes, there could also be others to consider, such as your air ducts not being cleaned.

You should carry out a residential duct cleaning service, when mold starts to accumulate in the ducts, or when there is mildew that is presents. It should also be cleaned when there is a build up of moisture, or if the ducts have wear and tear to them, and if it has been poorly installed. Other factors may include, insects or rodents that are coming from the duct system. If you have experienced a flood in your home. Having a build up of dust and dirt can minimize the productivity of your system. It also needs to be looked at, if you haven’t cleaned your duct system in a while.

There are other concerns involved in when you need to clean your ducts, such as health concerns. If you have health concerns in the following, your ducts should be cleaned: eye irritation, allergies, fatigue, morning grogginess, headaches, runny noses, continuous coughing, fatigue, not being able to concentrate, dizziness and a irritated lung and throat. These causes can be due to the poor air quality of your home as a result of not cleaning your ducts, but there could also be other reasons as well. Have a professional clean out the system to see if that is the possible cause.

When your air ducts are due for a clean, you should contact a licensed contractor that specializes in removing duct cleaning or mold remediation. They should clean out the entire duct system, the coils that are indoor and outdoor, the filters need to be cleaned or replaced, air components and handlers. They should also supply you with ducts and grills if you need them. They should also condensate drains and the drip pans, and sanitize your system once they have cleaned them.

The benefits in getting your residential ducts cleaned are reducing your costs for cooling and heating. When there is a large build up of dusts in the system it reduces its productivity and costs you more money. It will also make your air cleaner at home, so if you have any people in your house they may suffer from allergies or asthma this will reduce the harm to them, and will create a cleaner environment for them as well. Your children and your pets will also benefit from the clean air, as well.

Carbon Monoxide or Other Combustion Products

Burning natural gas, fuel oil, wood, and other fuels generate carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and various other air pollutants. Carbon monoxide causes headache, nausea, and drowsiness. It is lethal when a person is exposed to high levels. Nitrogen dioxide will irritate the lungs and air passages, which may make existing respiratory illnesses (asthma, allergy, etc.) worse. Depending on the fuel burned, any other pollutants may be produced that have a wide range of health effects. To protect you and your family:

·                     Ensure that all combustion appliances (stove, furnace, water heater, fireplace grills, etc.) are vented to the outside and operating properly. Furnaces should be inspected once a year to make sure they are working properly. Contact your utility provider or a heating contractor for service.

Dust, Mold & Biological Contaminants

Dust, mold, and other biological contaminants are present in most homes and, in many cases, are not at present a health hazard. However, depending on the types of dust or mold and the health status of the individuals in the home, these items can cause significant health concerns. Asthma and allergy sufferers may experience allergic symptoms or asthma attacks when exposed to animal dander, specific mold spores, or many other pollutants. Even persons without pre-existing medical conditions may experience eyes, nose or throat irritation when exposed to high levels of dust, mold, or other contaminants. Toronto is working hard to increase the number of smoke-free locations in the City.

Household Chemicals (cleaners, disinfectants, pesticides)

·                     Use only the amount of chemical that you need to accomplish the job. More is not always better.
